Savory Spinach and Feta Stuffed Puff Pastry Twists

Ingredients

  • 1 sheet of puff pastry
  • 200 g fresh spinach
  • 150 g feta cheese, crumbled
  • 100 g cream cheese
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 egg yolk, for brushing
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds, optional
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • A pinch of nutmeg
  • Fresh parsley or dill, chopped

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 200°C / 400°F. Line a baking tray with parchment paper.

Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and cook until soft. Add the garlic and stir for a few seconds.

Add the spinach and cook until wilted. Season with black pepper, a pinch of nutmeg and a little salt. Be careful with the salt because feta cheese is already salty.

Remove the spinach from the heat and let it cool slightly. Squeeze out any excess liquid so the pastry does not become soggy.

In a bowl, mix the cooked spinach with feta cheese, cream cheese and chopped parsley or dill. Stir until the filling is creamy and well combined.

Roll out the puff pastry and cut it into long strips. Spread a thin layer of the spinach and cheese filling over half of each strip. Fold the pastry over the filling and press gently to seal.

Twist each strip carefully and place it on the prepared baking tray.

Brush the twists with egg yolk and sprinkle with sesame seeds if using.

Bake for 15 to 20 minutes, or until the pastry is puffed, golden and crisp.

Let them cool for a few minutes before serving.

Serving Suggestion

Serve these puff pastry twists warm with yogurt sauce, garlic dip, tomato sauce or a fresh green salad.

They are also great for buffet tables, picnics or brunch platters.

Conclusion

Savory Spinach and Feta Stuffed Puff Pastry Twists are simple, elegant and full of flavor. The crispy pastry and creamy spinach filling make them perfect for sharing.

This is a practical savory recipe that looks impressive but requires very little effort.
