Salted Caramel Apple Crumble Bars

%title % Salted Caramel Apple Crumble Bars

Salted Caramel Apple Crumble Bars are a sweet, buttery and comforting dessert, perfect for autumn gatherings, afternoon tea, dessert tables or a cozy homemade treat.

They combine a crisp shortbread-style base, a soft cinnamon apple filling, a golden crumble topping and a drizzle of salted caramel.

This recipe is different from brownies, blondies or cakes because it has layers of texture: a firm base, tender fruit, crunchy crumble and a rich caramel finish. The apples bring freshness, the cinnamon adds warmth, and the salted caramel gives the dessert a sweet and slightly savory balance.

Salted Caramel Apple Crumble Bars

Ingredients

For the base and crumble

  • 250 g all-purpose flour
  • 120 g granulated sugar
  • 170 g cold unsalted butter, cubed
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For the apple filling

  • 3 medium apples, peeled and diced
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch

For topping

  • 4 tablespoons salted caramel sauce
  • A pinch of sea salt, optional

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 180°C / 350°F. Line a square baking pan with parchment paper.

In a large bowl, mix the flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. Add the cold butter cubes and rub them into the dry ingredients with your fingertips until the mixture looks like coarse crumbs.

Add the vanilla extract and mix lightly. The dough should remain crumbly.

Press about two-thirds of the mixture firmly into the bottom of the prepared pan to create the base. Reserve the remaining mixture for the crumble topping.

In another bowl, combine the diced apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, lemon juice and cornstarch. Mix until the apples are well coated.

Spread the apple filling evenly over the base.

Sprinkle the remaining crumble mixture over the apples, leaving some small gaps so the fruit can show through.

Bake for 35 to 40 minutes, or until the top is golden and the apples are soft.

Remove from the oven and let the bars cool completely in the pan. Once cooled, drizzle with salted caramel sauce and add a small pinch of sea salt if desired.

Cut into squares before serving.

Serving Suggestion

Serve these bars at room temperature or slightly warm. They are delicious with vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, coffee, tea or hot chocolate.

For a more elegant presentation, add an extra drizzle of caramel just before serving.

Conclusion

Salted Caramel Apple Crumble Bars are simple, rich and full of comforting flavor. The buttery base, cinnamon apple filling, crisp crumble and caramel topping make them perfect for sharing.

They are easy to prepare, easy to cut into portions and ideal for parties, family desserts or a sweet homemade snack.
